As we headed north on the Parks Highway, a distant hue of smoke on the horizon turned into a smokey fog on the other side of Wasilla. The plan was to take our RV to Nancy Lake State Recreation Area for some workamping (working + camping), fishing, and kayaking. Well that was the plan, but there was a wildfire burning 25 minutes up the road closing the highway and our campground was only 10 minutes from the frontlines.
One of our favorite summer activities is riding the ATV ride to Knik Glacier. It is a 50 mile (round trip) journey through woods, across rivers, and up to the glacier. This was our third year and third time making the trip.
We love boondocking in Alaska and we love technology. That is why we were so excited to find the Goal Zero Yeti 400 and Nomad 20w Solar Panel on a recent trip to Costco. It turns out that Goal Zero is showcasing their products by doing a traveling road show to Costcos around the nation.
After Alaska’s mild winter we were chomping at the bit to de-winterize the motorhome. We never could have predicted it, but the motorhome could have been used almost all winter long. Our first RV trip of the year is usually in the beginning of April and we were right on track. [Read more…]
