An ATV Ride to Knik Glacier + Video!

One of our favorite summer activities is riding the ATV ride to Knik Glacier.  It is a 50 mile (round trip) journey through woods, across rivers, and up to the glacier.  This was our third year and third time making the trip.

Packing for Alaska: You’re Gonna Get Dirty

I came to Alaska for the first time when I was eight years old.  My Grandpa was a pilot, he and my Grandma used to fly their Cessna 180 tail dragger to Alaska every year.  The summer after third grade, my mom and I flew up in August and joined my Grandpa for the month.  We traversed the state, visiting the must-see sites like Denali National Park, Kenai, Fairbanks, Lake Hood, Homer and so on.   [Read more…]

Surviving Alaska: 12 Ways To Stay Safe On Your RV Vacation!

Just because Alaska is a beautiful far off land, doesn’t mean the state isn’t prone to modern problems.  The ultimate goal is keeping you safe on your Alaska RV vacation by increasing your awareness.

As nice and peaceful as this gravel pull out  campsite along the Denali Highway looks it was rather undesirable.
We pulled into this nice and peaceful campsite along the Denali Highway at night.  When we woke up it was rather undesirable.  It was littered with trash, broken alcohol bottles, spent rounds from people shooting guns in camp, and the icing on the cake was when the dogs found a rotting caribou head 10′ into the bushes.
